Enough is Enough – there is no Vaccine for Cultural Fragility
Over the past three months my respect for scientists, which used to be pretty high, has taken a severe knock. The reason should be clear to all right-thinking people. The reliance on science during the Covid-19 pandemic has been an unmitigated disaster, not least because of the different opinions and projections that we have been receiving. No longer can we make jokes about economists being incorrect to the third decimal point – scientists have taken over the mantle big time
Of course, the scientists have been merely the messenger; with a far more odious group, otherwise known as politicians, taking the message and manipulating it for their own ends. And anyone who has been reading my editorials for some time will know that my respect for politicians was already at extremely low levels; and that their manipulative ways have just taken my respect levels one notch lower, to the depth of Hades.
My point of reference for this editorial is an article I read recently, from one J.D. Hall. He may not be spot on with all his facts, but I don’t care – it is the essence of what he says that interests me. He, obviously American, refers to the incorrect infection counts put forth by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the USA, and their admission that the national death count was fudged by tabulating everyone who died “with” COVID19, rather than “from” COVID19, thus making the real death count much lower than what has been reported. And now Dr Anthony Fauci, head of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), has admitted that continuing to close the country could cause irreparable damage. Add to this the confirmation by governor of New York Andrew Cuomo that a recent health study indicates that 70% of new infections actually originate at home, and I begin to spit blood. As Hall says, “If you are still living in fear, don’t be. The media, global organisations, the government, and its agencies are misleading the public.” Hall continues, “Open up your businesses, churches, and homes. Don’t fall for the lies any longer. If you fell for the lies this time, wake up and join the army of truth seekers fighting on the front lines.”
Just look at these stats relating to the USA: a death rate far lower than 2% of people who have contracted COVID-19; an additional six trillion US dollars of national debt; 50 million workers laid off or furloughed; 60 million people on food stamps; unemployment rates have gone from 3.5%to 14.7%; a crippled petroleum industry; a ruined tourism industry; a bankrupted service industry; an impending meat and protein crisis; exacerbated mental health problems; shut down schools and colleges; unbridled power given to unelected officials; increased suicides higher than COVID deaths; delayed surgeries and treatments for profound illnesses; the infringement of countless important civil liberties; and 300 million Americans under house arrest. As Hall says, this has come about because of our view of government as a god that can control providence and plagues, and a deity who can stop acts of nature; and our snivelling, 21st-century commitment to safety. He concludes that unfortunately there is no vaccine for cultural fragility.
Now, if you thought America is bad, just look at the clowns “running” South Africa. They have taken the insanity levels to a new paradigm, with even more disastrous consequences, and we, the long-suffering citizens, will bear this cross for many, many years. Enough is enough. All we need to do with this “pandemic” is to regularly wash our hands, use sanitiser when necessary, wear masks, and practise social distancing, and we will be 99% safe. Why bring our countries, and global trade, to its knees, just to satisfy the ideological and, I need to say this, evil impulses of power hungry and psychopathic goons?
Off with their heads!
